Today, I saw my first hockey game.  The Trenton Titans played in their home stadium, Sun National Bank Center.  (They didn’t win, but it was a great game and a fun time.)

Post game, at 7:00, the Philadelphia Revolution (a league for 15-20 year olds) have taken over the ice and are playing a game of their own.

7:00~1/7/12~Eating Healthy

image

Tonight, I’m trying my best to stick to healthy eating habits, but you know, with so many great pizza places in New Jersey, it’s hard to resist a slice or two.

This very healthy salad is being served on the side of delicious thin crust, perfectly cheesy, pizza from Maria’s in Milltown.

Sounds like a pretty good balance, if you ask me!

It’s Almost September!

A funny thing happened on the way to this post…I actually found it in the draft pile called “It’s almost July!”  The dates may be in the past, but the links all still work!  Rather than delete it and start over, I’ve left it as is.  Below is the original post as it was saved back in June.  Boy, how time flies!

NSNJ Stuff
It’s hard to believe that June is almost over.  This means that July is here, bringing with it Independence Day, fireworks, parades, and backyard parties.  It’s a great time of year even though it always seems to go by just in a flash.  There are a ton of fun things happening around the state this coming weekend to celebrate the 4th of July.  You can visit our calendar at Notes on the State of New Jersey to see some of the events.

The website is coming along nicely.  We’ve got a few new contributors on board, and everyone is working on some pretty fabulous stuff.  This week, Misty Layne shared her  first experience with the Jersey shore and Cristina Fowler shared her own memories of visiting the shore when she was a kid. There is a new archive page for all the articles published, and the articles now feature pictures – so be sure to check out some of the updates we’ve made.

Also, there’s a form now for anyone interested in advertising information.  If you know of a business or service that wants to advertise to a NJ audience, make sure to have them fill out the form!

Catching Up – new Clash of Influence CD
A while back, I had the pleasure of meeting a New Jersey band, Clash of Influence.  These guys have come a long way since those first shows I saw and my interview with them.  In fact, they recently released a new CD called Clash of Influence.  When I got my copy, the songs went immediately into my iTunes account so I could listen to the recordings that sound so much like the band’s awesome, live performances.

Picture Perfect: A Visit to the Plainsboro Preserve

This Picture Perfect Sunday, I’m sharing a collection of photos I took this week during a walk around the Plainsboro Preserve.

I had been there once before, in the fall, and remembered it was a beautiful location for photography.  Not being able to decide which photo to share, I’m sharing all that I took that day…

For more information about the Plainsboro Preserve, check out this link on Notes on the State of New Jersey.

December 27, 2010 ~ Old Photos and New Music

Opening the backdoor in the morning to mounds of snow (even after clearing it away a few times through the night)!

With crazy winds whipping around the almost two feet of snow that came yesterday, here in Central New Jersey, I’ve been inside working on my genealogy project.  Boxes (and boxes and boxes) of old family photos and online research capabilities have been keeping me entertained and off the roads.  It’s fun to see how far back my family has been here in New Jersey; my Jersey roots run deep!

I’m not the only one who’s been busy…Those Mockingbirds of Montclair, NJ have been working on new music, planning new shows, and breaking in new band members.  They’ve been nice enough to send over a link to their newest single, a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” (follow the link, then right-click, and then press “save as”).   If you like what you hear (and I’m sure you will – it sounds really great live, too!), make sure to pass the link on to your friends and check out www.ThoseMockingbirds.com for information about upcoming live shows and links to their other amazing songs.

Stay warm!
